Wyoming Plaza Condominiums
Located at 2012 Wyoming Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20009 | Kalorama
Not to be confused with the similarly named Wyoming just down the street, Wyoming Plaza is an eight-story condominium in the affluent Kalorama neighborhood. The building is newer than many other residential buildings in the area yet was designed in a traditional architectural style with a brick exterior and triple-window bays that allows it to fit right in with its historic neighbors. Other condominiums in Kalorama include 2101 Connecticut, the Dresden, and the Carthage.
Competed in 1987, Wyoming Plaza is a boutique building with only 26 residences, with only four or fewer at each level, allowing for roomy floorplans and a nice sense of privacy. The largest number of condos have one or two bedroom layouts, but there are also a handful of studios. Layouts range from around 432 to 1,200 square feet of interior living space. The pet-friendly building has washer and dryer hookups in each unit. There is also a parking garage with options for assigned parking, a convenience that is not particularly common among older buildings in the neighborhood.

More About Wyoming Plaza, Washington, DC
Wyoming Plaza was built in 1987, a transitional era when it comes to contemporary design. The growing appeal for larger windows and more natural light was countered by the longstanding Washingtonian predilection for pronounced front bays. The happy result was bays with huge floor-to ceiling windows, along with open space living and dining areas. In other parts of the apartments, however, you’ll find wide and slender horizonal windows more common to the 1970s International style of architecture. Add the fact that many owners have remodeled their units over the years, and the result is often sunny and open residences with hardwood floors and modern appeal.
The pet-friendly Wyoming Plaza can be found at the corners of Wyoming Ave, Columbia Road, and 20th Street, and also near the corner of Connecticut Avenue. There’s a small triangular greenspace across the street and the considerably larger triangular-shaped Kalorama Park is a block away. This part of Kalorama is sometimes waggishly referred to as condo alley due to the prevalence of well-known residential buildings. But it certainly isn’t urban in its feel. Instead, it’s a leafy and well-positioned community, and close to next-door Adams Morgan with its many shops and restaurants.
