More About the Sonata, Washington, DC

Residences at the Sonata have an exceptionally airy and open vibe, and many benefit from the building’s dramatic bays. The building’s rounded triangular corner at the intersection of Massachusetts Ave and 3rd Street allows for particularly dramatic room shapes for select units, with large, curved bays featuring wraparound window walls on three sides. Regardless of the size, shape or model, the residences share certain things in common, such as the soaring ceilings (sometimes with raw concrete finishes), exposed overhead ductwork, and tons of natural light from the full-height windows. Bedrooms are typically a few steps up from the main living areas for a loft-like ambience. Some of the largest units have floating spiral stairs leading up to a second level. Other features and finishes that are often found include wide plank hardwood floors, sliding bedroom doors, and gourmet kitchens with all the upscale bells and whistles. Wall partitions will sometimes feature wide gaps at the top to augment the industrial-chic ethos. It is also worth noting that many of the condos have been remodeled since the building’s delivery in 2006.

Residents at the Sonata enjoy a wide array of amenities, including a handsome curved front Lonny, concierge service, a lounge room off the lobby, a fitness center, and a roof deck. There are also three levels of underground parking. The location is ideal for commuters, with the I-395 just two blocks away for those who need to drive outside of the city. Public transit is also a convenient option with the Judiciary Square Metro Station about three blocks south. You also won’t find yourself wanting for dining or entertainment. This is the heart of Washington, DC, with numerous bars, restaurants, coffee shops, boutique retailers, museums, and theaters all in the area. The Capitol Building is about a mile away.
