More About the Fedora, Washington, DC
The property that the Fedora condos sit on once belonged to the Pitts Motor Hotel. Built in 1950 as a boarding house, it later became a hotel that hosted numerous notable civil rights figures and entertainers. But by the modern era, the building had fallen into serious disrepair and decay. Developers purchased the land and three adjoining lots and won approval from the D.C. Planning Commission to build the Fedora condos. A placard at the lobby entrance commemorates the legacy of the Pitts Motor Hotel.
The redevelopment was completed in 2006, with construction by Bozutto Homes. Residents at the Fedora enjoy a nice array of amenities, with secure garage parking, a marble lobby with staffed desk and concierge service, a club room, a rooftop deck with wooden flooring and cityscape views, and a lovely garden courtyard with lounging areas, grassy lawns, and grills. This is a very walkable neighborhood, and less than a block from Meridian Hill Park with its unique cascading water terraces and Sunday morning drum circles. Also worth noting is the proximity to 14th Street about a block away, with bars, bakeries, and restaurants.
