SPRING VALLEY LUXURY REAL ESTATE
While many neighborhoods in Washington, DC offer a mixture of housing at varying price points, Spring Valley belongs to a more exclusive club. Properties are primarily detached single-family houses, and almost always priced at over a million dollars. Home values have soared in recent years and the inventory is not nearly as plentiful as it once ways. It’s not hard to understand why, as it’s not a particularly large or densely populated place. Residents tend to cherish their nice homes and there’s not as much of a turnover as some other parts of the District. You’ll find a lot of classic traditional architecture, including center-hall Colonials, regal Georgians, charming Tudors, and some imposing French Normandy-style estates.
More About Spring Valley, Washington, DC.
Home to the American University campus, Spring Valley was residentially developed at a leisurely pace, beginning in the 1920s. The neighborhood is bounded by the Maryland border and the Dalecarlia Reservoir Grounds to the northwest, Massachusetts Avenue along the northeastern side, and Nebraska Avenue and Loughboro Road to the south. Although most of the neighborhood is verdant and residential, Massachusetts Ave provides a welcome commercial hub with a handful of businesses including Pizza Paradiso, Millie’s Spring Valley, Loco’s Cuisine, Compass Coffee, Starbucks, Bluestone Lane, and Wagshal’s.
With residents that have included former U.S. presidents, diplomats, business leaders, and Supreme Court justices, Spring Valley is also very much a quintessential upscale American neighborhood, a place to grow, to learn, to retire, or just live an unbothered life. The proximity to Bethesda and Chevy Chase to the north, and Georgetown and downtown DC to the south, allows for plenty of shopping, dining, and entertainment opportunities when residents do decide to venture outside their serene and pleasant community. It’s a nice place to live, providing that your perfect dream home happens to pop up on the market.
