The residences at Porta Vecchio range from one to three bedrooms with generously sized layouts. They also happen to be surprisingly affordable when compared to other Washington Metro waterfront condominiums. Part of the reason may be the era they were built in, the project was completed in 1983 and there is a bit of that eighties feel with the quasi-Mediterranean exterior façade. But step inside and condos are really quite elegant and nicely designed with open layouts, hardwood floors, big windows, and nice architectural details. Many of the units have been updated over the years, with newer gourmet kitchens, and spa-style baths. And, of course, the views are quite remarkable.

Porto Vecchio is in the southwestern part of Old Town Alexandria, between the Capital Beltway and the Belle Haven Country Club. On the other side of the beltway is Jones Point Park and the Alexandria Historical District. It’s not as close to Old Town shops and restaurants as some other popular condos in the area, such as Robinson Landing or The Oronoco. But you can certainly walk or bicycle along the Mount Vernon Trail to get to popular Old Town waterfront destinations. Commuting by car is certainly convenient, given the proximity of George Washington Memorial Parkway, the Capital Beltway, and the Woodrow Wilson Memorial Bridge.
