When the Monarch project first entered the development pipeline, it was described as being in the Tyson's neighborhood. Formally known as Tyson's Corner, this once quiet crossroads community is in the midst of a huge expansion, with Fairfax County planners envisioning a population boom up to 100,000 residents by 2050.

Next-door McLean, meanwhile, is also expanding. The developers of Monarch now describe the building as being in McLean rather than Tyson's. The neighborhood immediately surrounding the new condo building continues to add more coffee shops, restaurants, and stores, and the well-known Tyson's Galleria is just a couple blocks away. Commuters have plenty of options, with the Capital Beltway and Leesburg Pike close by, as well as the Greensboro Metro.
