City Overlook Condominiums
Located at 1454 Belmont Street NW, Washington, DC 20009 | Columbia Heights
The City Overlook condominium building gets its name naturally enough, located on Belmont Street in a hilly part of the Columbia Heights neighborhood. The famous Meridian Hill Park which also overlooks the city and the White House, is right at the end of the block. Although the neighborhood is often associated with older historic buildings, this particular street has seen a more recent development trend. City Overlook is one of those newer buildings, with a modern and stylish look. Other contemporary condo buildings include the Fedora right across the street, and Cityscape on Belmont about a block away.

Built in 2006, City Overlook is a boutique building with only 18 units. But the residences themselves are quite impressive, with one, two and even three-bedroom floorplans. Virtually all are true loft layouts, even the one-bedroom condos. Some also have bonus dens which are perfect as work from home spaces. The sizes are quite spacious, ranging up to nearly 3,000 square feet of living space. But the soaring ceilings and massive window walls make these sublime loft dwellings seem even larger. Many of the units also have private outdoor terraces with views of the city that live up to the building’s name.
More About City Overlook, Washington, DC
City Overlook is an eye-catching building from the street, with brown cinderblocks at the street level segueing to tan stucco above. Black metal accents, a jutting front bay, and massive windows all add to the distinctive cubist appearance. Step inside the condos and the style game gets raised even further, with maple strip floors, 18-foot ceilings, and some of the largest windows that you’ll find anywhere. The Italian designer kitchens are stunning with their mosaic backsplashes and stainless steel appliances, and the bathrooms are equally stylish. The building overlooks the U Street Corridor and is sometimes described as being in that neighborhood—it’s only a handful of blocks north of U Street itself. Also worth pointing out is the excellent roof deck, extra storage, an elevator, and the bonus of a secure parking garage.
Location is a huge plus as well. The fabulous Meridian Hill Park with its cascading waterfalls and sculptures is just a few buildings to the west, while 14th Street is just a half-block east. Tatte Bakery & Café, Busboys and Poets, Rooster & Owl, and Mayden are all within easy strolling distance. Local grocery options include Whole Foods, and Harris Teeter. It all adds up to an impressive package for an intimate four-story condominium in a neighborhood that has been rapidly trending upward in recent years.
