Aperture Condominiums
Located at 923 V Street NW, Washington, DC 20001 | Shaw
Standing tall amongst its neighborhoods, the new Aperture condominium building is modernist by design with cubist themes and big, boxy glass bays. Developed by McWilliams Ballard in 2022, the boutique project features 19 residences across seven stories, with commercial space at street level and a showy pair of duplex penthouses at the top. Aperture, which is also sometimes referred to as 923 V for its street address, is in the Shaw neighborhood and is also associated with the trendy U Street Corridor.
The new glass, steel, and white concrete tower replaces a former office building near the corner of V Street and 10th Street. The condos are close to Whole Foods as well as numerous local bars, restaurants, and retailers. The Shaw neighborhood and the overlapping U Street Corridor have seen a sharp increase in construction in recent years, from commercial revitalization to condominium projects such as 801N, Adora, the Fold, and Perla.
More About Aperture, Washington, DC
With only a very narrow lot to work with, Aperture’s developers elected to build up rather than out. This had a hidden a bonus, as there are only two or three spacious residences at each level. The 19 different models are either one or two bedrooms, with some units also having a den. Sizes range from roughly 500 to 2,000 square feet with most layouts somewhere in the middle. With high ceilings and giant front windows, the condos exude a sunny and contemporary ambience. White oak hardwood floors run throughout, and no space is wasted. Each unit has its own unique look, with interesting elements like sliding bedroom doors and open gourmet kitchens with white quartz counters and Bosch and Blomberg stainless steel appliance packages. Most of the condos have private balconies with glass parapets. The bathrooms are minimalist and chic with gray slate tiling, frameless showers, and white quartz topped twin-sink vanities. The two penthouses measure out at 1,781 and 2,010 square feet respectively, with each having two levels, two bedrooms, and 2.5 baths. One penthouse has a private roof terrace, while the larger has a bonus den and two roof terraces.
Aperture at 923 V Street has a handsome and secure front lobby, a package room, bike storage, and garage parking that is accessible via the rear alley. The building is next door to fun local bars like American Ice Company, and Wet Dog Tavern, and around the corner from the U Street Corridor’s new Whole Foods. Also nearby is the 9:30 Club, Ambassador Restaurant, Izakaya Seki, U Street Music Hall, the historic Howard Theatre, and so many other attractions. It’s a neighborhood that has been surging in popularity, boosted by its vibrant music, arts, entertainment, and food scene.
