2600 Pennsylvania Ave Condominium
Located at 2600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20037 | West End
Known by its street address as well as the shorter abbreviation, 2600 Penn is a boutique residential building that was completed in 2001, with a traditional architectural style that hearkens back to an earlier time in Washington, DC. The eight-story mixed use structure is at the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue NW and 26th Street, surrounded by a large city block of Rock Creek Park. The popular Ristorante La Perla is at the ground floor.
There are only 28 condominium residences at this handsome building in the West End neighborhood. Almost all of the units are two-bedroom models, generally between 1,066 and 1,134 square feet in size. There are generally just four residences at each level, allowing each to have corner exposures.
Most of the units also have window bays. In keeping with the retro Beaux Arts stylings of 2600 Penn’s exterior, these delightful apartments also have an interior charm reminiscent of older buildings, including crown molding, custom millwork, fireplaces with green marble surrounds, and glorious hardwood strip floors.

More About 2600 Penn, Washington, DC
Condos at 2600 Penn have organic floorplans that eschew the linear shoebox form so common in newer buildings. That said, living areas are generally open to dining areas, albeit with L shapes or dining cubbies that offer some level of separation. Similarly, many of the kitchens are of the galley or dual entry variety including pocket doors. This again runs contrary to the increasingly popular Euro styles that are completely open to adjacent living spaces. It’s an interesting and refreshing throwback, complemented by modern granite counters, and upscale stainless steel appliances. Sleeping quarters are often down a hallway for extra privacy, and the bathrooms are nicely finished with granite countertops, frameless showers, and deep soaking tubs.
There are not a lot of common amenities at 2600 Penn, apart from elevator, parking, and extra storage. However, the popular Ristorante La Perla is at the ground level of the mixed-use building. Also worth noting, Trader Joe’s is just two blocks away. The neighborhood definition can get a bit hazy, with many people calling it the West End and others insisting it’s Foggy Bottom. It’s a matter of interpretation, as Pennsylvania Avenue is considered the border between the two neighborhoods. Regardless, it’s a great location and quite walkable.
Other nearby restaurants include Marcel’s by Robert Wiedmaier, The Setting, and One Fish, Two Fish. The Foggy Bottom-GWU Metro station is roughly six blocks away, and Georgetown with its great shopping is next-door.
